The Military Warriors Support Foundation (MWSF) exists to provide support for our nation’s combat wounded heroes as they transition out of the military and into their new civilian life.
This is a very fragile time for these heroes, and their families, and it is our goal to provide programs that facilitate a smooth and successful transition.
One of our home recipients wanted to express their gratitude for MWSF and everything our programs have done for him.
His name is Matthew Whipple, he was served in two branches of the United States Armed Forces. He served in the U.S. Army at a rank of Specialist and in the U.S. Navy as a rank of Petty Officer – 2nd Class. He was awarded numerous awards of honor; the Army Commendation Medal, Army Combat Action Badge, Army Expert Badge for Marksmanship, Navy Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Expert Medal for pistol and rifle.
Whipple was with the 3rd Infantry Division, 2/69 Armor Battalion, HHC Company, Scout Platoon when he received word that his unit would be deployed to Iraq. It was in Iraq when he encountered 5 direct hits from IEDs while in his M2 Bradley and while positioned at a Forward Operating Base he was constantly under enemy fire from mortars and direct fire from insurgents.
