We had the privilege of presenting retired U.S. Army Cpl. Herbert “Bubba” Youmans the keys to his move-in ready, mortgage-free home in Columbia, Mississippi. This gift will assist him and his family in their transition from military to civilian life. The home was donated by Bank of America to Military Warriors Support Foundation and was given to Bubba through their Homes4WoundedHeroes program.

When asked why he wanted to join the military, Bubba said,

“Serving my country was always my dream, my passion.”

Cpl. Herbert “Bubba” Youmans joined the U.S. Army after graduating high school in June 2005 following basic training, he was deployed to Iraq, and later moved to Kuwait where he had to stay for 30 days until he turned 18.

When the time came, Bubba was flown back to Iraq. In 2006, Bubba received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained from an IED blast while on dismounted patrol. Bubba’s squad leader, Danny O’Neel recalls the time in a Facebook post saying he

“As his squad leader, I felt helpless and disheartened. But, Bubba's love for his country and fellow warriors has kept his spirits, and ours, high.”

Bubba was forced to medically retire in November 2007 due to his injuries. On April 6, 2017, Military Warriors Support Foundation awarded Youmans and his family with a newly-renovated, mortgage-free home in Columbia, Mississippi.

Welcome Home Bubba!
