Jason Roberts, with the keys his newly built home in the Bradford Pointe community in Summerville.A short ceremony will follow with remarks by our beneficiary veteran, representatives from PulteGroup's Built to Honor program, and local dignitaries in attendance.Media will then be invited to speak with our veteran. To ensure the comfort of our veteran, we ask that all media interviews be conducted at one time.Jason Roberts grew up with a desire: he would follow in the footsteps of his dad and join the United States Military to serve his country. After graduating from high school, a year early in January 2001, he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. In a little over a decade of service, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom while assigned to Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC), 2nd Marine Raider Battalion (MRB), and as a Critical Skills Operator (CSO). On Aug 16, 2009, after conducting a Direct-Action Operation in Herat, Afghanistan his Humvee was struck by a command detonated IED. Of the six soldiers, two tragically died and Roberts sustained a collapsed lung, broken back, a shoulder injury, and lost the lower half of his right leg. He retired medically in October of 2011 but continued to serve the country through government contracting in support of Special Operations.
