Combat Wounded Vets Aided with Support from George Strait
Nearly Ten Years Running;Military Warriors Support Foundation and George Strait Partnership Still Strong
As a veteran himself, George Strait has long supported American military personnel. For nearly ten years, and across 32 states, George Strait has allowed Military Warriors Support Foundation the opportunity to present approximately 90 homes to combat wounded veterans and Gold Star Families.
“We are so thankful for our partnership with George Strait and for him allowing us to honor our heroes in this way,” states LTG Leroy Sisco, USA (Ret) MWSF CEO & Founder.
During his sold-out concerts, George Strait stops his performance to recognize and honor our country’s combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star spouses. These Heroes are brought on stage to meet George and are celebrated by thousands in the crowd as they are presented with a mortgage-free home. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these Heroes and their families. Each fan of George Strait is a vital part of the presentations. They are a witness to a critical change in those particular combat-wounded veterans and Gold Star spouses' lives. Inevitably, the crowd begins to chant, “USA, USA, USA."
“Seeing everybody standing up and cheering for those who protect our freedom is amazing. To be there, around all these folks that appreciate America so much, makes you understand how much people really do care about our military. It’s something this country still supports and understands why it’s so important for our freedom.” said Ken Eakes, MWSF Executive Director.
This is an evident reminder for all veterans that the American people care and appreciate each soldier’s daily and lifelong sacrifices.George Strait served in the U.S. Army from 1971-75. He was stationed at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii and attained the rank of Corporal. He is a big supporter of military veterans and their families, as evidenced by his very own actions. We desperately need your support. Please donate today.
