We joined George Strait in Las Vegas, NV at the T-Mobile Arena to honor one of our nation’s combat-wounded veterans. It is such an honor and privilege to have George’s support as he opens up his stage help us honor these Heroes, Gold Star spouses and their families. This presentation wouldn’t have been possible without, first, the generous donation of a mortgage-free home by an incredible company to award to this veteran – A big shout out to Bank of America for all you do in helping us serve the heroes who served for us.Former U.S. Army Specialist Daniel Day is the hero honored this day. He joined the Army National Guard in 2004 and was assigned to E-Troop 108th Cavalry under the 48th Mechanized Infantry Brigade in Griffin, Georgia and was deployed to Iraq, 8-months after completing OSUT (one-station unit training) at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was the gunner of the first truck from the 48th Infantry to cross into Iraq from Kuwait. While his unit drove to Baghdad, the remainder of the brigade flew to Camp Liberty. His platoon was assigned to a patrol base in Yusufiyah, a city of the triangle of death. His unit often came under attack from insurgent activity and during one attack a fuel truck was struck by incoming fire and was set ablaze. Simultaneously, the building which housed their food was hit and set ablaze, adjacent to the burning fuel truck.
“While the building was being evacuated, I instructed a team member to help evacuate the building and I jumped in the burning fuel truck and drove it away from the building. I extinguished the fire and helped the others being evacuated.”

SPC Day was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with ‘V’ device for his actions that day.Military Warriors Support Foundation and Bank of America joined forces together to serve this amazing hero. On March 12, 2020, we welcomed him home with his very own 100% mortgage-free home in Newport News, VA. The home was donated by Bank of America to our Homes4WoundedHeroes program.

Special Note About Those Awarded through our programs

All the combat-wounded veterans and unmarried Gold Star spouses awarded mortgage-free homes and/or payment-free vehicles applied for our programs through our website. They submitted documentation we requested of them and went through our thorough vetting process. They were then selected by a specialized committee to ensure the best applicant to receive the vehicle or home was selected. None of our homes or vehicles are awarded through a lottery, none are ‘giveaways’.
