U.S. Army veteran Alfonso Porter and his family get the surprise of a lifetime on the TODAY Show!
Together with Wells Fargo, Military Warriors Support Foundation was able to surprise a well deserving combat-wounded veteran and Purple Heart recipient with a mortgage-free home in Texas. U.S. Army veteran Alfonso Porter and his family were presented a mortgage-free home as a surprise on national television on the TODAY Show on NBC as part of their special series honoring the military for Memorial Day. The story aired on Friday, May 27th.The segment tells the heroic story of U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Alfonso Porter’s decade of military service, being deployed 6 times and how he received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained while in combat. Alfonso shared the many challenges he faced while transitioning into civilian life after being honorably discharged from the military. He discussed how the programs offered through Military Warriors Support Foundation helped him transition successfully. The TODAY Show film crew did an amazing job capturing Alfonso’s reaction when he got to tour his new mortgage-free home for the very first time.This was a memorial moment for Alfonso and his family, and we are grateful to TODAY Show reporter Kerry Sanders and all the crew at the TODAY Show for capturing the heart of what we do.
