Air Force Purple Heart Recipient Receives Keys to Mortgage-Free Home

Bank of America and Military Warriors Support Foundation Present Mortgage-Free Home to Combat-Wounded Veteran in Mounds, Oklahoma

Retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Zachary Ruttman received keys to a mortgage-free home in honor of his military service

WHAT:
Retired U.S. Air Force Staff Sergeant Zachary Ruttman received the keys to his newly renovated home in Mounds, Oklahoma. The home was donated mortgage-free by Military Warriors Support Foundation in partnership with Bank of America. Zachary Ruttman joined the military in 2001. During his deployment to Iraq in 2004, he was wounded in action while supporting combat operations and is the recipient of the Purple Heart for his injuries he sustained.  In 2005, after four years of service, he retired from the United States Air Force.  He currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is a mentor with the Air Force Wounded Warriors Program.

In 2020, Bank of America celebrated 100 years of service to the military, a tradition that started in July 1920 when the company began providing financial services and products for service members and their families at the Fort Sam Houston base in Texas. Bank of America currently operates overseas military banking facilities in 10 countries, including 62 financial centers and 274 ATMs.  The company also recently surpassed its five-year goal to hire 10,000 veterans, National Guard, and reservists. This hiring goal was set to address the unique challenges military personnel face in finding employment after service. Bank of America remains committed to attracting, developing, and retaining military talent.

Military Warriors Support Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity, founded by LTG. Leroy Sisco (Ret), in 2007. Our mission is to provide support and programs that facilitate a smooth and successful transition for our nation’s combat wounded heroes and Gold Star families. Our programs focus on housing and homeownership, recreational activities, transportation assistance and leadership development. Through our programs, we award mortgage-free homes and payment-free vehicles to combat wounded heroes and Gold Star spouses. In addition to the home or vehicle, the families receive family and financial mentoring. Visit MilitaryWarriors.org for more information.
